Andrew Tsien Chih-ch'un

Andrew Tsien Chih- ch'un, Chinese:钱志 纯, ( born April 9, 1926 in Zhejiang, Republic of China, † February 17, 2009 in Taipei, Taiwan) was Bishop of Hualien in Taiwan.

Life

Andrew Tsien occurred in 1947 in the seminary of Jiaxing one. With the takeover of China by Mao Zedong on October 1, 1949, he moved on to further studies to Genoa, Italy. At the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Milan, he studied philosophy. On June 29, 1953 he was ordained priest.

Upon his return to Taiwan in 1960, he worked in pastoral care in Xinzhu, Jilong, Taipei, Xinzhuang. In 1966 he was Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy of the Catholic Fu -Jen University. In 1970 he became director of the Institute for Philosophical Research, In 1984, the Art Institute of fju.

1992 Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Hualien. He received his episcopal consecration on April 11, 1992 Dominic Tang Yee- ming, SJ, Archbishop of Canton; Co-consecrators were Joseph Ti -kang, Archbishop of Taipei, and his predecessor, Cardinal Paul Shan Kuo and later -hsi.

Bishop Tsien worked both in the official Roman Catholic Church, as well as in the Chinese underground church of the Chinese Catholic Patriotic Association ( CCPA ).

2001 his age-related resignation was accepted by Pope John Paul II.
