Andrey Zvyagintsev

Andrei Petrovich Zvyagintsev (Russian: Андрей Петрович Звягинцев; born February 6, 1964 in Novosibirsk ) is a Russian film director and actor.

Life

Zvyagintsev closed with twenty years from the actresses faculty at the School of Theatre in Novosibirsk. Since 1986 he lives in Moscow, where he studied at the Russian Academy of Theatre Arts - Gitis (Russian: Российская академия театрального искусства - ГИТИС ) and completed his studies as an actor in 1990. From 1992 to 2000 he worked as an actor in theater and film.

In 2000, he debuted at the television Ren TV as a director, he turned in the series The Black Room (Russian: Черная комната ) three shorter films. His first feature film, The Return - The Return (Russian: Возвращение ) from 2003 with Vladimir Garin, Ivan Dobronravov and Konstantin Lawronjenko award at the 2003 Venice Film Festival with the Golden Lion.

In 2007, he was with his film The Banishment (Russian: Изгнание ), a free adaptation of The Laughing Matter by William Saroyan, represented in the competition of the 60th Cannes Film Festival and won the Best Actor Award for Konstantin Lawronenko.
