Andrónico Luksic

Andronico Luksic Abaroa ( born November 5, 1926 in Antofagasta, Chile, † 22 August, 2005 Vitacura ) was a Chilean billionaire of Croatian descent. His ancestors came from the island of Brač.

Life

Luksic is the grandson of Croatian immigrants in Chile, who fled before the First World War in Croatia. He had studied law in Paris and Santiago. His rise in the 1950s was closely associated with the Ford Motor Company.

He was the patriarch of the Luksic family, and from 1982 to 2004 CEO of the company Antofagasta plc, which was mainly engaged in the business of copper mines. 2004 Luksic had bought the Banco de Chile. He has also developed resorts in the home of his family on the Croatian coast. The assets of Andronico Luksic and his family is estimated at four billion U.S. dollars. Andronico Luksic was married in first marriage with the Chilean Elena Craig (2 children ) and then with Iris Fontbona ( 3 children ).
