Andy McDonald (ice hockey)

Andy McDonald ( born August 25, 1977 in Strathroy, Ontario ) is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey player who played during his active career, among other things, for the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim and Anaheim Ducks and St. Louis Blues in the National Hockey League.

Career

McDonald played first in the Western Junior B Hockey League for the Strathroy Blades and Strathroy Rockets. In his first full season Andy McDonald of the entire season was voted Most Valuable Player. 1995/96 he repeated this and was also MVP of the playoff. Then McDonald went to Colgate University, where he worked for the local team in the ECAC, a league in the play mode of the National Collegiate Athletic Association, played the next four years. In the season 1999/ 00 Andy McDonald was named player of the year.

After graduating in 2000, McDonald signed as a free agent contract with the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim in the NHL. During the lockout of 2004/ 05 the Canadians played in the DEL, together with Marco Sturm, Jamie Langenbrunner and Aaron Ward for the ERC Ingolstadt.

Andy McDonald was part of Team Canada at the 2002 World Cup in Sweden. In the season 2006/ 07 Andy McDonald was, whose nickname is AndyMac, first appointed to the All- Star team in the Western Conference. With the Ducks, he also won for the first time in his career, the Stanley Cup.

After he had a weak start to the 2007/ 08 season, transferred him the Anaheim Ducks on 14 December 2007 in exchange for Doug Weight, Michal Birner and a seventh- round choice of law in the NHL Entry Draft in 2008 to the St. Louis Blues. In June 2013 ended McDonald, who had suffered five concussions in his career, due to the aftermath of these symptoms his active career.
