Andy Nelson (footballer)

Andy Nelson ( born July 5, 1935 in Custom House, London ) is an English former football player and current coach. His greatest success as a player celebrated in 1962 with Ipswich Town as one in the Football League, the second English top flight took first place. Nelson began his coaching career in 1971 at Gillingham, but left the club in 1974 in the direction of Charlton Athletic. With Charlton he succeeded in the years 1976 and 1977 each have a place among the top ten in the Third Division. But in the following years became Nelson under increasing pressure since the league was always first celebrated on the last match day. 1979 took the pressure on him further, because Mike Bailey was committed as head coach, which he was only acting as an assistant coach.
