Anekdoten

Anecdotes are a Swedish progressive rock band that was founded in 1991. As a former King Crimson cover band they see themselves in the tradition of Van der Graaf Generator and Magma and are therefore counted in the vanguard of retro prog - wave of the 1990s. Their music is characterized by a high proportion of Mellotron and, in particular their early works by a dominant, highly distorted bass sound.

Band History

Berg, Liljeström and Nordins had already come together in 1990 to perform under the name of King Edward with titles from the classic King Crimson era. After entering the cellist Dahlberg 1991 the renamed and tried his hand at his own compositions.

The early works Vemod and nucleus are characterized by an interplay between elegiac passages with reserved vocals on the one hand and thunder -like, fast-paced job with Liljeströms dominant bass playing, crooked meters and dissonant slots on guitar and cello on the other. On the two later albums From Within and Gravity is a progressive evolution towards a more accessible sound robe with influences of alternative rock can be observed. Constants remain the lively Mellotron use as well as the defining of Nordic melancholy.

Multiple were exchanged with companions of the Swedish scene: In cooperation between mountain, Nordins and members of the Paatos predecessor band Landberk was launched in 1998 with Morte Macabre a band project to life, which had the Mellotron -heavy new scoring of various horror movie soundtracks prescribed. For the music video for the single release from The War is Over from the album Gravity ex- Änglagård guitarist Tord Lindman was responsible as a director.

Could make a name for himself not only as the band 's main attraction on scene relevant festivals in U.S. and Europe but also in Japan, where two anecdotes cover bands exist. Anekdotens live activities have now declined to a low level, but were not yet ceased.
