Angelika Hellmann

Angelika Hellmann ( born April 10, 1954 in Halle ( Saale), after marriage Angelika thickness taper ) is a former German gymnast devices that belonged from 1970 to 1976 for GDR national team. Your home club was the SC Dynamo Berlin.

Career

Angelika Hellmann was the daughter of the later years of NOK Vice President Rudolf Hellmann. The Spartakiads 1966 and 1968 she won each on the ground and on the uneven bars. In 1974 Angelika Hellmann two more DDR Championship title when she was successful in addition to the all-around in the floor exercise. At the World Championships 1974 in Varna, the GDR team with Irene Abel, Heike Gerisch, Angelika Hellmann, Bärbel Rohrich, Richarda bouncer and Annelore prong again won silver behind the Soviet team. In multiplayer battle Hellmann won bronze behind Turischtschewa and Olga Korbut. Hellmann proved her balance by reaching all devices finals on uneven bars she took fourth place in the horse jump she reached the fifth place on the ground and on the balance beam, she was sixth, respectively. At the end of her career Hellmann occurred in Montreal in the 1976 Olympic Games. Together with Carol Dombeck, Gitta Escher, Kerstin Gerschau, Marion Kische and Steffi Kräker she won bronze behind the Soviet team and the Romanians. As 13th in the all around Hellmann could only qualify for a device finals on beam she finished fifth.

After completing her studies, sports Angelika Hellmann was coach at Dynamo Berlin. From 1990 to 1994 she was the national coach.
