Angelino Garzón

Angelino Garzón ( born October 29, 1946 in Buga, Valle del Cauca ) is a Colombian journalist and politician, and Vice President of Colombia from August 7, 2010.

Garzón was the beginning of his political career on the Executive Committee of the Partido Comunista Colombiano and was later Vice President of the Unión Patriótica. In 1991 he was a member of the Constituent Assembly of Colombia, the Asamblea Nacional Constituyente. From 2000 to 2002 he headed the Colombian Ministry of Labour and Social Security. From January 2004 to December 2007 took over the former union leader Garzón then the Office of the Governor of Valle- del- Cauca departments. He also held the office of Colombia's representative at the United Nations Office at Geneva.

Garzón suffered 9 August 2010, just two days after taking office as Vice- President, a heart attack.
