Anglosphere

The term Anglosphere ( Anglo of Anglophone and sphere, coining the SF author Neal Stephenson ) collectively referred to the States in which the English language by the vast majority of the population ( mother tongue) is spoken or is the official language.

To Anglosphere therefore include the English-speaking countries USA, Ireland, UK, Canada (excluding Quebec ), Australia, New Zealand and South Africa ( in South Africa, English is the lingua franca or the lingua franca of the country, but it is only the native language of a small minority ) due to their linguistic, political, historical, legal and economic similarities and similarities. Also the fact that these states are traditionally military allies is underlined by the term.

The term anglosphere was often used by political movements as a rallying cry to go for a defection of Britain from continental Europe to North America.
