Anna Katharine Green

Anna Katharine Rohlfs ( born November 11, 1846 in Brooklyn as Anne Katharine Green, † April 11, 1935 in Buffalo ) was an American writer of Victorian detective stories.

Life

On November 25, 1884 in Buffalo Green married the actor and later a furniture designer Charles Rohlfs. She had a daughter and two sons: Rosamunde, Roland Rohlfs and Sterling, both of which were test pilots.

Rohlfs died with more than 88 years on April 11, 1935 in Buffalo and found their last resting place there at Forest Lawn Cemetery.

Reception

Rohlfs is considered the "mother of Detective Stories " and the most important representative of the genre between Edgar Allan Poe and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. She has published about 40 books.
