Anna Maria Jopek

Anna Maria Jopek ( born December 14, 1970 in Warsaw) is a Polish singer. She represented Poland at the Euro Vision Song Contest 1997 in Dublin.

Life and career

Her parents were active in the Mazowsze Polish group. The Mother Mary Stankiewicz was a dancer and the father Stanisław Jopek a famous Polish singer.

In the Manhattan School of Music in New York in 1989 Jopek learned jazz. In 1994, she completed her study of classical piano at the Fryderyk Chopin Music Academy in Warsaw. Her first recording contract she signed three years later at Polygram and recorded her first album on: Ale Jestem (Eng. "But I am "). In the same year she represented Poland at the Euro Vision Song Contest 1997 in Dublin. In 1998 she received a gold record for Ale Jestem. For their next album Szeptem (Eng. " Whispering " ) she received in the same year platinum. On 31 January 1998 she married the broadcaster Marcin Kydryński. In April of the same year, she was awarded with the " Fryderyk " one of the most important Polish music awards. A month later she had a son. A year later, their second son was born. In 2000 she undertook a concert tour in Israel; in Katowice / Poland she made with her band the opening act for Sting. 2002 she and her band toured in Germany and Austria. In September 2004 they played in Kassel, Osnabrück, France and the United States. In October 2004, she collaborated with the German guitarist Robert Wolf. 2005, her album Secret, which is her first international album and contains exclusively English songs. She sings on this CD, among other songs of their own and Sting cover versions. In autumn and winter 2005, she was again on tour in Germany.
