Anna of Stolberg-Wernigerode

Countess Anna of Stolberg- Wernigerode ( born September 6, 1819 in Peterswaldau, † February 17, 1868 in Berlin) was a German deaconess. She was matron at Bethany.

Life

Anna was the eighth child of Count Anton Stolberg- Wernigerode and came in the Silesian Peterswaldau to the world. As a child a sense of charity was awakened in her. In 1834 she followed her parents to Dusseldorf, where base this a year later a school for small children, and in 1836 the first Rhenish-Westphalian Deaconess Association. From 1837 to 1840 she lived in Magdeburg and then in Berlin, where she attended the newly founded Deaconess Motherhouse. In 1854 she became a deaconess and Deputy Head. In 1855 she took over the leadership of Bethany, where she worked until the end of life as superior.
