Anna Sophia of Prussia

Anna Sophia of Prussia ( born June 11, 1527 Königsberg, † February 6, 1591 in Lübz ) was a princess of the Duchy of Prussia and by marriage Duchess of Mecklenburg.

Life

Anna Sophie was the oldest and only surviving child of Duke Albrecht of Prussia (1490-1568) from his first marriage with Dorothea of ​​Denmark and Norway (1504-1547), daughter of King Frederick I of Denmark. Through her ​​mother Anna Sophie extensive knowledge in naturopathy especially gynecology. Already in 1546 were approved by the Prussian stands a so-called tax of 30,000 florins Miss Anna Sophie, she received at her wedding.

Anna Sophie married on February 24, 1555 in Wismar Duke Johann Albrecht I of Mecklenburg ( 1525-1576 ). As part of the wedding festivities Anna Sophie's father made ​​for a comparison of his son with his brother Ulrich. On the occasion of the marriage of Johann Albrecht had let the princely in Wismar remodel in the Renaissance style, which he referred, together with his wife. Anna Sophie died on her widow's residence in Lübz and was buried in Schwerin Cathedral.
