Anne Abernathy

Anne Abernathy [ æbɚnæθɪ ] ( born April 12, 1953 Saint Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands) is a luger from the U.S. Virgin Islands. It is the oldest athlete to ever participate in the Olympic Winter Games and was recorded for the Guinness Book of Records. Therefore it is called Grandma Luge (German grandmother luge ).

At 29, Anne Abernathy began with the sport of luge. In 1988 she took part in Calgary for the first time at the Olympic Winter Games. The 2006 Winter Games in Turin were the sixth Olympic Games, where Abernathy was reported. She was the only representative of her country.
