Anne Bonnet

Anne Bonnet, Anne actually Thonet ( born May 16, 1908 in Brussels, Belgium, † November 14, 1960 ibid ) was a Belgian painter. She was an important representative of abstract painting of the 1950s, with international recognition.

Biography

Anne Bonnet was born as Anne Thonet and at 17 years for orphans. She studied art from 1924 to 1926 at the Académie de Bruxelles. She continued her studies after her marriage from 1936 to 1938 at the Académie de Saint- Josse- ten-Noode ( Brussels) continues. There she met the artist Gaston Bertrand and Louis Van Lint know with whom they should work all their lives.

In 1945, Anne Thonet was co-founder, along with Gaston Bertrand Jan Cox, Louis Van Lint, Marc Mendelson, James Ensor and other of the Foundation " La Jeune Peinture Belge " (or: " Jonge Belgian Schilderkunst "), which had the task of young Belgian artists to enable participation in major exhibitions at home and abroad. Thus exhibitions were (among others) in Amsterdam, Bordeaux, Brussels, Stockholm, and Zurich organized.

In 1952, she founded with other artists the group Espace, an association of the abstract artists in Belgium. Anne Thonet in 1959 was participant of the documenta II in Kassel year.
