Anne Murray

Anne Murray, CC, ONS ( born June 20, 1945 in Spring Hill, Canada ) is a Canadian country music singer.

Career

Murray grew up as the only girl on under five brothers. She began as a singer in the television series Singalong Jubilee. At that time she was still working full-time as a physical education teacher.

In 1968, she took on a small independent label their first album, What About Me The record company Capitol Records noticed her and offered her a contract in 1969. Already the first single Snowbird became an international hit. It achieved high rankings in both the pop and in the country charts.

It took a few years to 1972 Danny 's Song was able to place again in the top ten is. In 1974 she had with He Thinks I Still Care and Son Of A Rotten Gambler her first number - one hits. In 1975, she won a Grammy for Love Song. In the same year she married. In 1976 she gave birth to her son William to the world, 1979, she gave birth to her daughter, Dawn, who acts both as a singer and as a painter under the name Dawn Langstroth.

With You Needed Me they had in 1978 again a number 1 hit, this time in the pop charts. This was followed by I Just Fall In Love Again as part of a long series of hits, which lasted until the mid-eighties. After their success streak continued unabated, every now and then she has continued to issue albums. In the late 1990s she managed with the CD What a Wonderful World: 26 Inspirational Classics a comeback in the United States.

In November 2007, the album Anne Murray Duets Friends & Legends, Murray sings on the title of their most successful duets with famous colleagues such as Shania Twain, Martina McBride, Nelly Furtado or Emmylou Harris and her daughter Dawn Langstroth appeared.

Two years later, Anne Murray gave as part of the promotion for her autobiography, All of Me in several interviews announced that she would be retiring from show business. She graduated from other concerts, TV appearances and albums.

2010 Murray was allowed to wear during the opening ceremony of the Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver with seven other celebrities, the Olympic flag into the stadium.
