Anne of Austria, Queen of Poland

Anne of Austria ( born August 16, 1573 Graz, † February 10, 1598 in Warsaw) from the House of Habsburg was an Archduchess of Austria and by marriage Queen of Poland and Grand Duchess of Lithuania; since 1592 and Queen of Sweden.

Life

Anna was the eldest daughter of Archduke Charles II of Austria - Styria (1540-1590) from his marriage to Maria Anna (1551-1608), daughter of the Bavarian Duke Albrecht V.

On May 31, 1592 married Anna of Austria - Styria in Krakow the Polish King Sigismund III and later Swedish. Vasa (1566-1632), only son of King John III. of Sweden and his first wife Catherine, the sister of the Polish King Sigismund II August.

Anna died following the birth of her last child, and was buried in Wawel Cathedral in Krakow. According to the inscription on her coffin she would have been born in 1567, four years before the marriage of their parents. After the death of his wife Sigismund was a new marriage with Anna's sister Constance.

From Anna's marriage produced five children, only one child reached adulthood:
