Anne-Sophie Pic

Anne -Sophie Pic ( born July 12, 1969 in Valence, Rhone- Alpes ) is a French cook, and since 2007 the first French Chef of the Year.

Family and Education

Anne- Sophie Pic's great-grandmother Sophie Pic ( born Sahy ) founded the restaurant L' Auberge du Pin in Ardèche in 1891. Her son Alain Pic took over the restaurant and in 1934 was awarded by the Michelin guide for three-star chef. Two years later he founded the restaurant Maison Pic in Valence. His son Jacques Pic ( b. 1932 ) took over the family business and was also awarded by Michelin three -star chef for 1973. His son Alain Pic ( b. 1976 ) began with 17 years teaching cooking in well-known restaurants in Alsace and in Paris and in French chocolatiers.

The daughter Anne -Sophie should first attend a hospitality school in Lausanne, but decided the study of business administration and management at the ISG ( Institut supérieur de gestion - Grande Ecole de Commerce ) in Paris and New York. In 1991, she changed her career choice, and now she wanted to become a cook and went with her brother in teaching. They drew inspiration from Paul Bocuse, Michel Bras and her father Jacques Pic. With 59 years her father died suddenly of a crack aorta. Her brother Alain Pic led the Maison Pic on, 1995, the restaurant was reduced to two stars.

1993 married Anne -Sophie David Sinapian, the managing director of the family business was so that they could devote himself entirely to the art of cooking from now on. They met in their study and know both come from Valence. 2005, her son Nathan was born. In 1998, her brother and his wife Marie -Hélène his own restaurant Les Mésanges Montbonnot -Saint -Martin, near Grenoble, leaving the Maison Pic entirely to his sister.

Three Stars and Chef of the Year

In 2007 was honored as a three -star chef Anne -Sophie Pic from Michelin, it was so decorated by her grandfather and father in the third generation with this high distinction and was after Eugénie Brazier, Marie Bourgeois ( both 1933) and Marguerite Bise ( 1951) only the fourth Frenchwoman who achieved this rank. On September 24, 2007, she was chosen by chefs 8000 Chef of the Year and was the first French woman who received this highest award of French Cooking ( awarded since 1987 ).
