Anne-Stine Ingstad

Life

Anne- Stine Ingstadt was born in Lillehammer and Helge Ingstad married in 1941. From this union a daughter, Benedicte forth. In the 1950s, Anne- Stine studied Prehistory and Early History at the University of Oslo. During the excavations from 1961 to 1968 in L' Anse aux Meadows, she worked as director and received international recognition for their work. Your excavator team consisted of Norwegians, Swedes, Icelanders, Canadians and Americans.

Together with her husband she was honored by several universities with an honorary doctorate for her work, including from Memorial University in Newfoundland and the University of Bergen. She was also a member of the Norwegian Academy of Science and the St. Olav's Order.
