Annelise Coberger

Annelise Coberger ( born September 16, 1971 in Christchurch ) is a former New Zealand alpine skier of German ancestry. She specializes in the slalom discipline.

Career

Coberger sealed the biggest success of her career in 1992 at the Olympic Winter Games in Albertville, as they surprisingly won the silver medal in the slalom behind the Austrian Petra Kronberger. This makes it the first and only athlete from New Zealand, who won a medal at the Winter Olympics.

She began to start in World Cup race until the Olympic season 1991/92. In the four World Cup slalom before the Olympic Games reached their top form and penetrated into the world top. In Hinterstoder she succeeded on 14 January 1992 her first and only World Cup victory. In the races of Schruns, Maribor and Grindelwald she reached two third and a fourth.

Your benefits could first confirm with five other place in the top three in the following season. At season's end, she was in the slalom World Cup Second, only six points behind Vreni Schneider. After their shape curve showed down and they no longer appeared on the front seats on. Their last World Cup races contested Coberger in March 1995 in Bormio.
