Annerod is a village in the municipality of Hessian remote forest in the district casting with just over 2,800 inhabitants.

History

The name part rode for grub points to a deforested forest area, which gave its name to the place already in the Carolingian period. The historical origins of the village lies in the dark. Archaeological finds have - as the place name - in the Carolingian period, the first documentary mention however, dates only from 1307.

1703 Annerod was attributed in the Hesse- Nassau Hesse -sharing contract. After 1945, the site recorded the highest growth rate of all municipalities in the district of Gießen respect to the number of inhabitants. Also from 1965 to 2005, the number of inhabitants, caused by acknowledged development areas and dispersal of industries from 1,500 residents to over 2,800.

In the course of municipal reform in Hesse, the community Annerod closed at 31 December 1971 together with the communities voluntarily Albach and Steinbach to the municipality remote forest.

Attractions

The Protestant church was built in the Gothic Revival style 1879/1880. Worth seeing especially the wood carvings inside.

Economy and Transport

Industry: Rovema Packaging Service GmbH. All districts of remote forest, so also Annerod are connected by bus with casting. The community itself is located directly on the B 49 and close to the A5 motorway and the B 457
