Anni Becker

Anna Magdalene " Annie " Becker ( born December 9, 1926 in Kaiserslautern, † 22 June 2009), nicknamed " Pälzer Krott " was a singer, songwriter, writer and performer of popular and folk songs.

Becker was a teacher by profession and taught until 1991. Their songs were from both the tradition of folk music as well as the German cabaret. Many of her works are set in pfälzischem dialect with which they grew up. Their lyrics often dealt with political and social content.

She has received several awards, including the price Nuremberg Bard's and has published eleven books. Subjects were also the equality of women and pollution of the environment. She was involved in the AG Song, the Association of songwriters and songwriter, in their coordination committee, she was elected in 1982.

Becker sang in the 1970s with her son Jockel, who died in a road accident in 1985.
