Annika Bryn

Annika Bryn (* 1945) is a Swedish journalist, writer and mystery author.

Origin and family

Bryn is the daughter of a Swedish mother and a Norwegian father and grew up in Stockholm. Her father's family had been active in the Norwegian resistance against the Nazi occupiers and had hidden saboteurs. Her grandfather, a captain who sank his ship in a German attack. Her father was a young man into the ground and fled during the Second World War in neutral Sweden. There he met Annika Bryn know mother, who was also active in the resistance and, inter alia, Norwegian and Danish Jews helped to escape.

Annika Bryn spends a lot of time in her childhood with her grandmother in southern Norway, which told her many stories about the German occupation and the war. Soon she begins to write in order to process experiences and heard.

Studies and professional life

After high school she studied comparative literature, film studies, sociology and theater studies. Since then she has worked as a freelance journalist, among others for the renowned Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet. In her articles she's all about nonviolence, solidarity with minorities and respect for human rights.

Works

Published in 2003, Annika Bryn her first crime novel The Sjätte natten ( The sixth night) in Sweden. The book in which they are processed autobiography of her family literary and packaged in a thriller, received an award as "the best debut novel ." In 2005, he appeared in German translation, received positive reviews and is placed in a series with the so-called "Swedish crime fiction " by Henning Mankell and Liza Marklund.
