Anoplius is a genus of Wegwespen ( Pompilidae ). In Europe, 10 species occur.

Features

The species of the genus Anoplius is medium Wegwespen. Head and thorax have no distinct punctures, but are provided with erect, dark hair. The face plate ( clypeus ) is short and broad, more or less convex, and is covered with short fitting. The apical edge is truncated, or more or less concave. The labrum is partially or completely covered by the faceplate. The mandibles are pointed and have two additional teeth. Which is shorter than the Metapostnotum metanotum. The propodeum is either curved or significantly prolonged weak and has inconspicuous microstructures. In the females the abdomen is stout and wider than the thorax. The sixth Tergum is cone- shaped and has at the head of numerous nearly erect bristles. The claws have a small ventral tooth. In the males, all claws are thorns double ( bifid ). The wings are decorated with a brown band on Apikalrand, the Flügelmal ( pterostigma ) is usually small. The legs are spined, the Tarsalkamm is either well trained or inconspicuous.

Way of life

The brood is supplied with spiders from the families Agelenidae, Amaurobiidae, Atypidae, Clubionidae, Gnaphosidae, Heteropodidae, Liocranidae, Lycosidae, Oxyopidae, Pisauridae, Salticidae and Thomisidae.
