ANSMET

The Antarctic Search for Meteorites program ( ANSMET ) ( program to search for meteorites in Antarctica ) is a program for finding meteorites in Antarctica. The program is funded by the Office of Polar Programs of the U.S. National Science Foundation and of the Solar System Exploration Division of NASA. It was started in 1976 under the direction of Prof. William A. Cassidy of the University of Pittsburg. So far, 20 field missions were conducted and already collected more than 10,000 artifacts. These finds are continuous and scientifically reliable source of macroscopic extraterrestrial material.
