Ansu Sesay

Ansu Sesay Martin ( born July 29, 1976 in Greensboro, North Carolina ) is an American professional basketball player and plays as a power forward. He has both experience in the NBA and in the best European basketball leagues.

Career

Sesay played during his studies at the University of Mississippi for their high school team Rebels in the Southeastern Conference of the NCAA Division I. In the NBA Draft 1998, he was selected number 30 of the Dallas Mavericks, but did not qualify for the regular team, as he in the preseason right foot broke.

In the 1999-2000 season he played in Rockford Lightning in the Continental Basketball Association. In the summer of 2000, he then joined the Philippine Basketball Association to Santa Lucia Realtors, where he received the Best Import Award. Then he returned to the CBA and played in the 2000/ 01 season at Quad City Thunder. In the following season, he joined the newly formed NBA Development League and played in Greenville Grove, which were the first champion of this league. Sesay was named MVP of the NBA -DL.

Then Sesay was taken in March 2002 by the Seattle SuperSonics for the NBA under contract, where he played until 2004. In the season of 2004-2005 he moved to the Golden State Warriors. In total he played 127 NBA games, including four play-off games for the Sonics, with an average of 10.2 minutes, 3.2 points and 1.8 rebounds per game. He came up with hit rates of 43.4 % from the field and a free throw rate of 64.0 %. While he regularly came into use at the Sonics, he played for the Warriors only 16 games, so he left the NBA in 2005 and moved to Europe.

His first stop in Europe was Roseto Basket in the Italian Serie A, where he played one season (2004-2005). Other stations in Italy were Basket Napoli (2005-2007), with whom he won the 2006 Italian Cup and Olimpia Milano ( 2007-2008). In the 2008 /09 season he played in the German Basketball Bundesliga for Alba Berlin. While the second round of the ULEB Euro League reached with Alba and German Cup winner, was one difference in the play-offs in the championship semi-final, which was considered for the title defenders as disappointment. As for good personal season start, Sesays services had deteriorated in the course of the season, he was one of the few players who did not get a new contract in Berlin. At the beginning of 2010, Sesay eventually signed a contract with STB Le Havre in the French LNB Pro A
