Anthony Gilbert (composer)

Anthony Gilbert ( born July 26, 1934 in London ) is an English composer and music educator.

Gilbert worked as a translator before it first, then studied music with Mátyás Seiber at Morley College with Anthony Milner and Alexander Goehr and finally at Tanglewood with Gunther Schuller. In the 1960s, he lived as a publisher of contemporary music in London before becoming a Granada Arts Fellow went to the University of Lancaster in 1970.

At the Royal Northern College of Music, he founded the department for contemporary music and worked until his retirement in 1999 as Director of Composition Studies. He also served Australia during prolonged stays in the composition department of the New South Wales State Conservatorium.
