Anthony Pilla

Anthony Michael Pilla ( born November 12, 1932 in Cleveland) is Bishop Emeritus of Cleveland.

Life

Anthony Michael Pilla received on 23 May 1959, the ordination.

Pope John Paul II appointed him auxiliary bishop on June 30, 1979 in Cleveland and Titular Bishop of Scardona. He received his episcopal consecration of the Bishop of Cleveland, James Aloysius Hickey, on 1 August of the same year; Co-consecrators were Clarence George Issenmann, Bishop Emeritus of Cleveland, and Joseph Abel Francis, SVD, Auxiliary Bishop of Newark.

After the appointment of Bishop Hickey Archbishop of Washington, he was appointed on 29 July 1980, on the Apostolic Administrator of Cleveland. On November 13, 1980, he was appointed Bishop of Cleveland and introduced into the office on January 6 of next year. From his office he resigned on 4 April 2006.
