Antigone (daughter of Eurytion)

Antigone (Greek Ἀντιγόνη ) of Phthia was in Greek mythology the daughter of Eurytion, king of Phthia.

When Peleus was banished for killing his half-brother Phocus, he came to Eurytion and received Antigone for his wife and one-third of the country. They had a daughter Polydora. On the hunt for the Calydonian boar, however, Peleus accidentally killed Eurytion with his spear. That's why he fled a second time and came to Akastos of Iolcus. Astydameia, the wife of Akastos, Peleus wanted to seduce. However, since this showed no interest, they sent a message to Antigone, where she stated, Peleus wanted to marry Sterope, daughter of Akastos. As Antigone received the news, she hanged herself.
