Antigua Barracuda FC

The Antigua Barracuda FC is a former football team from Saint John 's, Antigua and Barbuda. The club was founded in 2010 and plays from 2011 to 2013 in the USL Professional Division.

The Barracudas were the first professional football club based in Antigua and Barbuda. While the country has its own league, but this has only the status of an amateur league.

History

The Antigua Barracuda FC was originally supposed to be competing in the USL First Division. After the restructuring of the leagues system of the United Soccer Leagues this was changed. This was announced on 23 September 2010. Barracuda plays in the International Division of the USL Professional Division. The first coach of the team is was the Scotsman Billy McEwan. This was replaced by the Englishman Tom Curtis.

The first official game was played against the Puerto Rico Islanders FC in April 2010. The game was lost 1:3. The first league game in the USL Pro was held April 17, 2011 against the Los Angeles Blues SC. The team lost 2-1. The first official goal in the club history posted Tamorley Thomas.

In the 2013 season, the team lost each of his 26 games. After the season, the team was disbanded, reasons for this were the bad financial situation.

The Barracuds wore their home games at Sticky Wicket Stadium in St. George Parish from. The stadium is named after the adjacent restaurant complex. It was originally built for the cricket tournament Stanford 20/20.
