Life

Antoni Angelowicz was from Galicia, and was on the Lemburger Academy, which was run by the Jesuits, prefigured. He then continued his education at the seminary for nobles and began 16- year activity in a diocesan office. He also studied theology and philosophy at the Greek Catholic General Seminar in Vienna.

Angelowicz was consecrated on 14 February 1796 Bishop of Przemysl by Vazynsky of Chelm. On September 25, 1808, he became the first Metropolitan of Halych '; his seat was in Lviv.

Because Angelowicz refused to sign the call of the Polish troops from Warsaw, who saw to it that the region of Austria became independent again, and spread, he was imprisoned. He escaped and received for his patriotism by Austria in 1809, the Grand Cross of the Austro- Imperial Order of Leopold.

The Episcopate held Angelowicz held until June 6, 1814, the day he died.

Angelowicz had invested heavily in the state and for the church. He regulated the dioceses of Lvov and Przemysl and established them. This change was still mid-19th century. For the Library of the Lviv chapter, he donated 8,000 books and gave the archbishop's insignia, which he had bought for 30,000 florins. He also bought the Starostei Halych for 96000 Gudeln, whereupon he gave the Lviv city. However, he died before he could pay that price. Francis II paid him for the remaining half of the money.

Angelowicz himself wrote only a translation of a pamphlet in the Polish language: Kto jest strona zaczenpną, Austrya lub Francya? (1809 ).
