Antiseen

Antiseen is a punk band from Charlotte, United States.

History

Anti lakes were formed in 1983 by vocalist Jeff Clayton and guitarist Joe Young. The band name sounds spoken as "anti- scene" and should bring an anti - attitude towards the punk scene expressed. Visually, the band distanced after some time and was oriented with long hair, beards, jeans, T -shirts, leather jackets and sneakers rather on metal, alternative. 1988 met bassist Thomas O'Keefe to the band, who had earlier in 1984 already applied unsuccessfully. Since 1992, the band performed several world tours, limited her appearances outside the U.S. since the late 1990s, but at festivals. Published in 2006, the record company TKO a tribute album called Everybody Loves Antiseen, on the 58 bands and artists ( including Jeff Dahl, Zeke, Hank Williams III and Chaos UK ) reenact Antiseen songs or interpret. 2013 returned the former drummer Barry Hannibal as a bass player in the band back.

Style

Musically, Antiseen geared to U.S. proto- punk bands like the Ramones or the Stooges. The songs are short, fast and easy knit, on guitar solos is largely unnecessary. By Clayton's rough voice similarities occur to the music of Motorhead. A special feature is the occasional use of a washboard. The band describes their music as " Destructo Rock". The lyrics of the band are satirical and sometimes aggressive. Military scenarios, local patriotism and wrestling are often treated for content and committed numerous violations of the "political correctness". Critics characterize the band consequently as at least partly racist, homophobic and misogynist. The band refers to its satirical nature and refers to himself as apolitical. Early in her career, the band drew their concerts by unusual optical effects, so mannequins, fake blood and pyrotechnics were used regularly. Due to logistical and legal problems the band has turned away from this practice. Meanwhile, the stage show is complemented by smaller pyro deposits, instrument destruction and self-injury of the singer by broken glass and microphone stands.
