Antoine Émile Henry Labeyrie
Antoine Émile Henry Labeyrie ( born May 12, 1943 in Paris ) is a French astronomer.
Labeyrie graduated in 1966 his engineering studies at the École supérieure d' optique, one of the grandes écoles, from 1970 and gained a doctor's degree. He is a professor at the Collège de France. His laboratory for interferometry of stars and exoplanets ( Laboratoire d' interferometry Stellaire et Exo - planétaire, LISE ) is located at the Observatoire de Haute -Provence.
Labeyries research area is the optics, especially techniques of interferometry. He developed the speckle interferometry. Currently he is working on the concept of a "hyper- telescope " ( exo Earth Imager ), an interferometer to the principle to be able to combine a fleet of space telescopes and is large enough to resolve structures on exoplanets.
