Antoine Winfield

Antoine D. Winfield (* June 24, 1977 in Akron, Ohio ) is a former American professional American football player at the position of the cornerbacks. He played from 1999 to 2003 for the Buffalo Bills from 2004 until 2012 for the Minnesota Vikings in the National Football League ( NFL). Throughout his career, he was elected three times to the Pro Bowl.

Career

College

Winfield played college football for the Ohio State University. In his last year, 1998, he won the Jim Thorpe Award, an award for the best college defensive back.

NFL

He was selected in the first round of the NFL Drafts 1999 by the Buffalo Bills. For the Bills, he got in the second season a place as a starter. During his time with the Bills he scored 211 tackles and a sack.

The Minnesota Vikings were aware of the cornerback and pledged him in 2004. During the first six seasons with the Vikings, he went to 434 tackles and three bag. In 2006, he scored his first of five touchdowns. He was elected to the Pro Bowl in both 2008 and 2009.

The American sports magazine Sports Illustrated named Antoine Winfield 2007 to number 31 of the 500 best NFL players.

In March 2013, the Minnesota Vikings sacked the cornerback from salary reasons. The Seattle Seahawks committed Winfield a month later for a year. Even before the start of the Regular Season Winfield announced his retirement from the NFL.
