Anton Amann

Anton Amann ( born June 20, 1956 in Bregenz) is an Austrian chemist and professor at the Medical University of Innsbruck.

He works in the field of physical chemistry, ECG analysis and respiratory gas analysis.

Anton Amann is the director of the Institute for breath analysis of the Austrian Academy of Sciences and Editor in Chief of the Journal of Breath Research.

He has authored more than 130 scientific articles.

Curriculum vitae

He studied chemistry at the ETH Zurich and graduated in 1984 with a thesis. The title of his dissertation under Hans Primas and Norbert Straumann was observable in the W * - algebraic quantum mechanics. In 1991 the Habilitation in Physical Chemistry at ETH Zurich. From 1987 to 1995 he was a Senior Research Associate at the Institute of Physical Chemistry at ETH Zurich.

In 1995 he received an APART fellowship of the Austrian Academy of Sciences and an invitation for a Associate Professor Job at Yale University. Marie Sklodowska Curie 2010, the Medal of the Polish Chemical Society awarded him. From 2006 to 2009 he was coordinator of the EU project BAMOD ( lung carcinoma screening, with 13 European partners). In 2005, he was chairman and organizer of the international conference "Breath Analysis for Clinical Diagnosis and Therapeutic Monitoring" in Innsbruck. In 2004, he was chairman and organizer of the international conference "Breath Gas Analysis for Medical Diagnostics" in Dornbirn.

Since 1997 he has been Professor of Chemistry at the University of Innsbruck and since 2004 at the Medical University of Innsbruck.
