Life

His father, Josef Eberl, was an official of the imperial administration. Even as a child, Anton Eberl was doing out by considerable achievements as a pianist. This fact was recognized of the nine years older than Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart ( 1756-1791 ). Urged by his father took Eberl end of the 1770s to study law, which he was, however, soon forced to give up already because of its financial bankruptcy; he had to play the piano already not given while studying, so he now turned completely to the music. Eberl was Mozart's pupil and friend. And Eberls works were soon at such a high level that they were often published under Mozart's name. In Mozart's death (1791 ) composed Eberl mourning cantata " Bey Mozart's grave ".

Even after Mozart's death, the contact whose family did not break off. So Eberl accompanied in winter 1795-1796 Constanze Mozart and her sister Aloysia on a concert tour to Hamburg and Leipzig. On March 28, 1796 married Anna Maria Eberl Scheffler and the same year he left for St. Petersburg, where he worked at the Imperial Court as a conductor, composer, virtuoso pianist, and music teacher of the royal family. From 1803 on, Eberl was much talked about back in Vienna. His opera "The Queen of the Black Islands " although was not success with the public, but Joseph Haydn praised the music. Eberl composed much now - and his works came to quite successful performances. His Piano Concerto in C Major, Op 32 was premiered by Eberl personally, and was listed as his Symphony in E Flat Major, Op 33 in April 1805 along with Beethoven's Third Symphony ( " Eroica ") symphony Eberls got the much better reviews.

In 1806, Eberl was at the height of his fame. Tragically, he died a few months after his return to Vienna on 11 March 1807 of blood poisoning.

Despite his short life Eberl composed many sonatas, four piano concertos, five symphonies, songs, fantasies, dances and Variations for Piano, eight stage works and much more. Stylistically his music is based on the Viennese classical, but has often romantic characteristics, ie it refers to the transition from classical to romanticism.
