Anton Furst

Anthony Francis Furst ( born May 6, 1944 in Wendons Ambo, United Kingdom, † November 24, 1991 in Los Angeles ) was an American film designer. For his design of the film Batman 1989 Furst in 1990 received the Academy Award for " Best Production Design ".

Furst attended the Royal College of Art in London. Before he began to create the set design for feature films he made through the introduction of dramatic laser and other light effects including The Who a name in the international music scene. Later he designed the films The Company of Wolves (1984) Full Metal Jacket (1987 ), Batman (1989) and Awakenings (1990). (1986 ), he developed a set design for Dream Runner, a feature film is part of the project is PHENOMENA. For his vision of Batman's hometown of Gotham City Furst won an Oscar.

Furst committed suicide in 1991 after his relationship with actress Beverly D' Angelo had failed. He jumped from the 8th floor of a parking garage in Los Angeles to his death.
