Anton of Schauenburg

Count Anton von Schaumburg, sometimes also called by Look Castle, ( † June 18, 1558 ) was from 1557 to 1558 Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Cologne.

Life

Anton von Schaumburg was dean of the Gereon in Cologne - pin and exercised the office of provost of the Cecilia pen in Hildesheim, at Servatius in Maastricht and pen on Lambertus pen in Liege.

The younger brother of his predecessor Adolf III. of Schaumburg and son of Count Jobst von Schaumburg and Holstein - Pinneberg was elected on October 26, 1556 to the Archbishop and the October 6, 1557 as such by Pope Paul IV confirmed.

His tenure was filled with it to improve the disastrous financial situation of the Archbishopric. He remained until his death only subdeacon.

The tombs created for him and his brother Cornelis Floris were originally placed on the choir screen in the high choir of Cologne Cathedral. In 1863 they were transferred into the radial chapels; Antons on the west wall of the chapel Engelbert.
