Antonina Seredina

Antonina Alexandrovna Seredina (Russian Антонина Александровна Середина; born December 23, 1930 in Tver ) is a former Soviet canoeist and Olympic champion.

Life

Seredina began only in 1954 with the Canoeing. When she moved to study in Moscow, she joined Spartak Moscow. At the World Championship 1958 in Prague, she was the one-man kayak second behind Elizabeth Kislowa and won with Kislowa silver behind Maria Schubina and Nina Grusinzewa. At the European Championships 1959 in Duisburg, she was again in one second behind Kislowa, but won with Kislowa the European title in the double kayak before Schubina and Grusinzewa.

At the Olympic Games in Rome in 1960, she won in a single 0.14 seconds ahead of the German Therese Zenz. In the double kayak she won along with Maria Schubina before the German boat with Zenz and Ingrid Hartmann.

1961 won Seredina at the European Championships in the one before Nina Grusinzewa. 1963 at the World Championships in Jajce, she won the world title in four kayak. At the Olympic Games in 1964 she won in double kayak along with Nina Grusinzewa fourth place. 1965 at the European Championships Seredina was in a single second behind Lyudmila Chwedosjuk. In the double kayak, she won along with Maria Schubina before Chwedosjuk and Nadezhda Levchenko. In these four quad kayak rowers sat together in the boat, and brought together the title.

At the 1966 World Championships in East Berlin she won in double kayak with Mary Schubina silver. In the four-man kayak won Pinajewa - Chwedosjuk, Levchenko, Schubina and Seredina. 1967 occupied Seredina at the European Championships in standalone 3 in two she won along with Pinajewa, and the four defended his title in 1965 in the same occupation. The end of her career were the Summer Olympic Games in 1968 in double kayak she won along with Pinajewa bronze. The foursome became an Olympic kayak for women until 1984.

At the Olympic Games in 1972 and 1976 Seredina served as a trainer for the Soviet women's team.
