Antonio Bartolomeo Bruni

Antonio Bartolomeo Bruni ( born January 28, 1757 Cuneo ( Piedmont ); † August 6, 1821 ) was an Italian violinist and composer of classical music.

Bruni was a student of Pugnani, according Fétis possibly a certain Spezzani. In Paris in 1780 he conducted the orchestra of the Concert Spirituel. He was a member of the orchestra of the Italian opera, he was also co-editor of the Journal de violon. In addition to Giovanni Battista Viotti, he led from 1789 onwards, the Théâtre Monsieur. In the years of terror after the French Revolution Bruni was commissioned by the Revolutionary Guards, to make an inventory of confiscated musical instruments. After the introduction of the Premier Empire proclaimed Empress Josephine Bruni to her first violinist.

Bruni composed 1785-1801 more than twenty works for the stage and about 200 of chamber music works to be assigned as string quartets, trios, duos, violin sonatas, but also " revolution music.
