Antonio Conte (fencer)

Antonio Conte ( born December 11, 1867 in Minturno, † February 4, 1953 ) was an Italian fencer. He won a gold medal at the Olympic Games.

Antonio Conte took part in tournaments in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. He took part in the Summer Olympic Games in Paris in 1900. There he competed in the championship competitions in foil and saber. In saber competition, he reached the final. There he defeated his compatriot Italo Santelli and thus won the gold medal. He was next to the Cuban Ramón Fonst the only Olympic gold medalist in fencing, which did not originate in France. The French dominated the competition with wins in five of seven contests.
