Antonios Pepanos

Antonios Pepanos (Greek Αντώνιος Πέπανος; * 1866 in Patras ) was a Greek swimmer who participated in the 1896 Summer Olympics in Athens. He went up to the 500 - meter freestyle swimming and finished there with a time of 9:57,6 minutes into second place. Pepanos was a member of Panachaiki Gymnastiki Enosi, a club that has won over many Olympic medals. With its 30 years Pepanos was full of doubts about whether he should compete again in this high for athletes age since his successful days were over long ago. Due to this fact, he joined only in a competition.
