The Anzhi Arena (Russian: Анжи - Арена ), formerly Khazar Stadium is the football stadium of first division club Anzhi Makhachkala Russian. The Arena is located in the Russian Kaspijsk in the Republic of Dagestan.

History

Before the construction of the stadium Anzhi Makhachkala Khazars played since its inception in 1991 in the Dinamo Stadium. After climbing Anschis in the first league at the end of the 1999 season, the attention was greater by the club, which is why the almost 15,000 -seater Dinamo Stadium was busy. Therefore, the club's management, a new stadium at about 18 km from Makhachkala away Kaspijsk decided to build. Construction began in 2001. Finally, on 22 July 2003, the Khazars stadium with a league match between Anzhi Makhachkala, was now relegated to the second league and FC Kuban Krasnodar opened. The stadium then offered 20,000 spectators. Due to the low viewership of the club in 2006 moved back to the Dinamo Stadium. This was due to the poor accessibility of the stadium for fans of Makhachkala, who were dependent on public transport.
