Apamin

Apamin called a contained in bee venom neurotoxic peptide that consists of 18 amino acid residues.

It binds in a specific manner on calcium-dependent potassium channels, the so-called SK channels (small conductance ), which are not inhibited by tetraethylammonium, and blocks it. These channels are responsible for the Nachhyperpolarisation after the action potential. Apamin is used in experimental neuroscience as a marker for this channel type.
