Ape, Latvia
Ape ( Hoppenhof German, Estonian Hopa ) is a town in northern Latvia, on the border with Estonia. 2009, joined the city with four surrounding communities to manage community together Apes novads. 2010 4287 inhabitants were registered in this.
History
1420 Hoppe family was enfeoffed with the territory. Under the landowner Axel von Delwig started at the end of the 19th century a strong upswing. After 1903 this was a railway station on the narrow-gauge railway line Walk - Marienburg (see: Bānītis ). 1928 was granted city rights. After the Second World War industry was settled.

In Ape a motocross race takes place every year nowadays.
