Aplomb

The ( or ) Aplomb ( from the Latin plumbum ' lead, plumb ', aplomb in French or à plomp ' vertical ') is a concise expression for a straight, steady posture, a self- confident manner, insistence in speech, calm up for audacity.

In the ballet dance, the term Aplomb refers to the ability to intercept a movement, that corresponds to the balance. In the 18th century, when the daily behavior in the higher strata of society was strongly influenced by dance movements, the expression aplomb was generally used for a sovereign to stormy behavior, similar to the flying colors. The correlation of the expression with the admission to Court also seems to be in the 19-20. Century in: " I have not the aplomb that will grow me because it is necessary if you want [ ... ] associate with the masters of the world. " ( Theodor Herzl 's diary entry 1895).
