Aprilia RS 125

The Aprilia RS 125 is a light motorcycle / Super Sportsman of the Italian motorcycle manufacturer Aprilia, part of the Piaggio Group. It is an offshoot of the racing machine to the Aprilia factory team that has been successful in numerous 125cc classes.

The RS 125 was from 1992 to 2012 built and sold. In the 20 - year construction period, there were some changes, but not shook the principle of the two-stroke engine.

Aprilia motorcycle sales in Germany in three levels: a 80-km/h-Version for drivers under the age of 18, then a 15 - hp version that has a disabled exhaust control and a smaller carburetor jetting and can be moved to the category A1. The "Full Power" is the most powerful RS 125 with up to 30 hp depending on the year. In the last -built RS unregulated catalyst and an electronically controlled carburettor were used and only 24 hp it have been achieved.

2012 production was stopped. The main reason was the not complied with the two-stroke principle emission regulations. The successor model has a four-stroke engine (Aprilia RS4 125).

Technology

When engine was a water-cooled and diaphragm-controlled two-stroke engine with exhaust control. Produced and developed was the engine of the Austrian manufacturer Rotax.

1991-1997 Gs model

The enduro version, the Aprilia Tuareg Rally 125 With a curb weight of 108 kg and a five-channel cylinder with matching exhaust system this almost 33 hp reached at 12,000 rpm, through the exhaust valve, which is to be driven using the foot brake and the chassis is it similar to a purebred motocross machine.

Motorsport

The RS 125 is used in the 1993 stattfindendem annual ADAC Junior Cup of young racers up to 18 years. The vehicles are almost series models and can be up to 35 HP. In the Regulations stipulates that only the exhaust system may be changed in the form of an Arrow- Challenge exhaust and the tires of the brand Metzeler. According to the regulations of the RS 125 two series are allowed. Since 2014, however, four-stroke engine to be driven in the ADAC Junior Cup just yet.
