Arab Alliance for Freedom and Democracy
The Arab Alliance for Freedom and Democracy ( AAFD, Arabic التحالف العربي للحرية والديمقراطية ) is a network of liberal political parties, organizations and activists from Arab states.
It was founded in 2008 in Cairo Arabic under the name Liberal Network (NAL ). Wael Nawara of Egypt's al - Ghad Party was elected its first president. The network received its present name in 2011 - in response to the negative connotation that has the name, liberal ' in some Arab countries.
The network is connected with the global International liberals. It receives support from the European party Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe and the German Friedrich Naumann Foundation.
