Arashi no Yoru ni

Arashi no Yoru ni (Japaneseあらしのよるに, dt about " A stormy night " ), is the first part of a picture book series written by Yuichi Kimura and illustrated by Hiroshi Abe. There is also a homonymous anime film, an anime series, and a video game for the Nintendo DS, which was released only in Japan.

When the book was published in 1994, it was surprisingly very popular and Kimura had initially no intention to continue the story. After he got a lot of support, he decided to write five more books that end with Fubuki no Ashita ( After the snowstorm ). Thus, the story became even more popular and it was filmed a compilation under the name Shiroi Yami no Hate de published, as well as a film. Then Kimura wrote a seventh book, which bears the title Mangetsu no Yoru ni and completes the story.

Action

A goat named Mei (メイ, in the film May ) studied in a stormy night, protection in a little old hut. A short time later, another person enters the hut to get to safety before the storm also. The two can neither see nor smell, as it is very dark and both have colds. Nevertheless, a deep friendship between the two and they decide the next day to eat together developed. To recognize themselves they make a kind of solution, Arashi no Yoru Ni, the film's title. The following day, the two meet and are surprised: Mei is a goat and the other a wolf named Gabu (ガブ). Although they are actually natural enemies, connects the two a deep friendship and they spend much time together. They meet secretly until Meis flock and herd Gabus learn of their secret friendship and forbid their friendship. When they meet again, they jump into a nearby river to find a place where they can live free of all prejudices.

However, it can Ghiro (ギロ, Giro ), the leader of Gabus wolf pack, the two pursue because he hates all goats and Gabu considered traitors. Gabu and Mei, who cross a mountain, behind which a new forest should be making, on top of rest. Mei, who knows that Gabu has not eaten in days, wants to sacrifice himself for his friend and is free to be eaten by him because he is too weak to proceed to. Gabu, however it does not have the heart to kill his friend. He leaves the cave in which they raced and noticed Ghiros pack, which is still behind the two ago. Ready to sacrifice his life for Mei, he introduces himself bravely against his old pack. During the fight an avalanche is triggered and buries the wolves.

The next morning, Mei leaves the cave and sees the forest that they were looking for. Unfortunately, he found no signs of life Gabu and makes itself on the way into the forest to rediscover his friend in hope. After some time he finds Gabu again that his memory has lost by the avalanche and wants to eat him. Mei would have gladly sacrificed for Gabu, but says that this would not be the Gabu, he knew. He starts to cry and shouts angrily at Gabu, he would most like him never in that " stormy night " ( Arashi no Yoru ni) met. When he hears these words, Gabus memories return and both are lucky to have found each other again. At the end they find themselves together at the moonrise.

Film

The movie Arashi no Yoru ni, was released on 10 December 2005 in Japan and was more than a month in the top 10, with over 1.2 million viewers in its first month alone. On 20 January 2006, the film was shown in Taiwan and is responsible for 26 other countries around the world, planned.

The animations provided by the Studio Group TAC under the direction of Gisaburo Sugii, the animation directed by Tsuneo Maeda and künsterlerischen led by Yukio Abe. The character design is by Marisuke Eguchi and the music of music Keisuke Shinohara. The theme song was sung by aiko Star.

The Japanese DVD was released on 23 June 2006, both as a Limited Edition, as well as a standard version.

In the Japanese Academy Awards in 2007 and the Tōkyō Kokusai Anime Fair 2007, the film for Best Animated Film was nominated but lost each The Girl Who Leapt defeated by time.

TV Series

The series was carried out by the studios Sparky Entertainment and Baku Enterprise as 3D computer animation. The Director held Tetsuro Amino. The music is by Fumitaka Anzai. The header title Friendship Birthday - Arashi no Yoru ni ( Friendship Birthday ~ ~あらしのよるに) is sung by Sea ☆ A and the end credits title Dear My Friend by U -Kiss.

Unlike the movie where Mei is represented as a male she is female in the series and is also written homonymous May.

Trivia

The name comes from the Japanese word Mei Mee, which is the Giongo for the sound of goats.

Gabu also comes from a Giongo, from gabugabu, which represents the noise while drinking or eating.
