TEA Arblète 1957

The Arbalète, sometimes called the French article L' Arbalète, was a jointly operated by SBB and SNCF distance train, the association with Zurich Hauptbahnhof 1957-1997 Paris Est. The train belonged to the TEE network and were continuing after its setting as an intercity and later as Euro City. The name Arbalète is the French term for crossbow and should remember the weapon of William Tell.

History

With the introduction of the Trans - Europ - Express network perverted on June 2, 1957, the first Arbalète. Like all TEE trains led the Arbalète only the first class and was primarily aimed at business travelers. In the first years of the train with a four-part diesel train SNCF X 2770 series wrong. These vehicles were from the X series in 2720 derived RGP 1 unit trains with only one car class and painting in TEE colors red / cream. From August 1964 to September 1969 the DMUs RAm TEE were used, followed by loco-hauled trains with INOX TEE cars of the Mistral 69 These trains were in France with diesel locomotives CC 72000 series, in Switzerland with SBB Re 4 /4 II covered in the TEE paint scheme.

As of May 23, 1971 the Arbalète between Zurich and Basel were also given the car the TEE Helvetia, in the opposite direction reversed the trains separately.

On 26 May 1979 the last Arbalète wrong as a TEE train. Then a composition of Corail car was used with both classes of cars. The train reversed to 1987 Intercity, then up to its setting in 1997 as Euro City. The compound was replaced by a TGV train pair, the inverted via Bern and Pontarlier and from Dijon used the high-speed line. It was replaced in 2007 by the current TGV - connection through Basel- Strasbourg.

Train route

The train reversed from Paris Gare de l' Est on Chaumont, Belfort and Mulhouse to Basel. He sailed from Paris to Mulhouse railway line Paris -Mulhouse and from there the route Strasbourg -Basel.
